Project Currently in Progress
e-Learning Training
Role: Project Manager
The client's specific requirement is to provide training for newly hired respiratory therapists who may, at times, fall short of adhering to universal precautions and administrative protocols during critical care emergencies.
DUTIES
Duties: I am currently leading a multifunctional e-learning team. Our mission is to craft an engaging and interactive scenario-based learning experience. Leveraging the Agile framework, insights from subject matter experts (SMEs), and principles from adult learning theory, our team is diligently working on the development of an e-Learning program aimed at mitigating critical care incidents among newly recruited respiratory therapists.
PROJECT SUMMARY & BUSINESS ISSUE
Summary: A trauma hospital within a metropolitan city has had a recent influx of new staff. It has been reported that a noticeable increase in critical care incidents is higher when new-hire respiratory therapists are on duty. This client is seeking training for newly hired respiratory therapist who fail to follow universal precautions, and administrative procedures during critical care emergencies.
Performance Problem Addressed: The specific performance problem being address in this eLearning experience pertains to the skills gap of new hire respiratory therapists working in critical care units of a hospital.
Left unaddressed, management is concerned with having to deal with increase risks related to negligence. The strain of having under-skilled respiratory therapists leaves veteran therapists vulnerable to burnout and over compensation during working hours.
Process & Approach
PROCESS:
Met with the project sponsor to conduct a comprehensive review of their Request for Proposal (RFP), analyzing their specific needs and deliverable requirements. Established project milestones, reviewed cost estimates, and defined quality standards for the e-learning training program.
Collaborated closely with the lead respiratory therapist, who served as the Subject Matter Expert (SME), to outline course content and identify key performance gaps among new-hire respiratory therapists.
Developed a project charter based on thorough research, analysis, and the desired requirements, taking into account dependencies and constraints.
Upon receiving approval of the project charter from the project sponsor, organized a kick-off meeting with the development team, which included the Instructional Designer, e-Learning developer, and SME.
APPROACH:
An agile approach was adopted to foster ongoing collaboration throughout the project's lifecycle. This involved establishing a communication plan and crafting a project schedule using Jira software
Three-week sprint cycles were employed to iteratively develop content that could be reviewed by Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
